Teaching Award 2023

At the last meeting, the Senate decided on our proposal to award the University’s teaching prize to Dr. Stephanie Seidl from German Medieval Studies (Institute of Literary Studies). What particularly convinced us about her teaching is that she uses various didactic methods and explanatory approaches to bring everyone along and also to inspire them, even though medieval studies is often rather difficult or has little relevance to everyday life. In the middle of the lecture, she uses interactive means such as small quizzes to restore concentration and motivate people to think along. Her creative lecture titles motivate even before the lecture begins and arouse curiosity.

As with almost all nominees, Ms Seidl’s respectful interaction “at eye level” with the students was also praised. We warmly congratulate Ms. Seidl and thank her and all the other nominees for their commitment to students and teaching.
