What is the Senate?

The Senate is the central body of the university and responsible for all matters of teaching, study and research. It consists of the rectorate, 20 professors, representatives from the administration, scientific employees, 2 doctoral students, 6 students and also some advisory members. The 6 students, whom you elect in the current committee election, represent your interests against the majority of the other status groups.

Tasks of the senate are among others the establishment and change of study programs, the election of the rectorate members and much more. In addition, there are separate Senate committees for many topics, such as the Senate Committee for Teaching and Continuing Education and the Senate Committee for Teacher Education.

The meetings take place about once a month and usually keep the (student) members busy for a whole day – not counting the work in the numerous working groups, committees, and the consolidation of all study-related topics in stuvus.
