Stupa committees

The Student Parliament (StuPa) has committees – similar to the Bundestag, for example – which help it with words and deeds on certain matters.

The Budget Committee (HHA) supports the StuPa in all financial matters. It comments on applications with major financial implications, decides on financial applications from €5,000 to €10,000 and prepares the budget together with the financial officers. Only members of the StuPa who are not elected to the Executive Board may become members of the HHA.

stuvus and the student groups are – similar to associations – defined by statutes. The Statutes and Rules Committee (SGO) deals with these and supports the bodies in the creation and formulation of statutes. Should questions of interpretation arise, the SGO takes a stand. Like the HHA, this committee is also a decision-making committee of the StuPa, i.e. its members must be members of the StuPa, as decisions made by this committee can replace a decision by the StuPa in special cases.

The Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADA) advises the StuPa on matters relating to anti-discrimination and examines the applications submitted in this aspect. As an advisory committee, only the chairperson must be an elected StuPa member, but anyone can become a member.

stuvus pays an expense allowance (AE) to a few, particularly active people with many obligations. An AE is a small compensation (far below minimum wage) of between around €100 and a maximum of €550 per month for the many hours worked – as the chairperson of the board, for instance, has to make legally binding decisions and take on many prescribed (not always fun) tasks. The AE Committee makes recommendations on the level of expense allowances, has a monitoring function and can issue reprimands if necessary.
