Studi-Tip: Old exams
You’ve probably already noticed that older students often use old exams to prepare for their exams. We were asked on Instagram how to get hold of these old exams.
Most of the time, it’s not that easy. Many student groups have an online platform where they make old exams available to you for the individual subjects, while others only give them out in printed form or can only show them to you during their office hours. The most helpful thing to do here is to contact your student group.
Alternatively, you can try to ask your lecturers directly for exams from previous years. However, try to bundle the requests, otherwise the lecturers will get too many requests.
Last but not least, it is also possible that higher semesters have “come into the possession” of exams from previous semesters. Just ask them if you can have them as well.
If you are still wondering at this point why old exams are useful, let it be said that they are helpful to get to know the format of the questions, the depth of the content, the amount of content and simply the structure of the exam. This will save you from unpleasant surprises during the actual exam.
It should be noted, however, that old exams do not exist in all subjects and specialisations, as they also depend very much on the format of the exam. However, memory transcripts from exams taken in previous semesters can also be an important aid. Here, too, it is worth asking.
