Citizens’ Reception of the City of Stuttgart
The citizens’ reception of the City of Stuttgart took place on 4 November. Mayor Dr. Frank Nopper received invited persons in the Liederhalle. The main topic of the evening was voluntary work in the city of Stuttgart. Dr. Nopper emphasised that he wants to encourage people to become and remain active as volunteers.
At the citizens’ reception, a total of four honorary plaques were awarded by the city of Stuttgart, one for 2020 and three for 2021. One of the three honorary plaques for the current year was awarded to our board member Marius for his commitment to the helper pool that we had set up during Corona. In total, more than 300 people, mainly students of Uni Stuttgart, were active there. A total of more than 5,600 hours were spent in facilities such as the Tafel, but also in quarantine stations and during tests. At this point, a big thank you once again to all those involved!
During the evening, there was also a round of talks with the three honoured persons. Marius was asked to formulate a wish for Dr. Nopper. Marius noted that some students could not afford to do voluntary work. He asked the Mayor to make sure that Stuttgart is no longer one of the most expensive cities and that the cost of the StudiTicket does not continue to rise. We are curious to see whether this wish will come true.
