Workshop: Before I graduate

Time: Wednesday, 13th Oct. 2021  |  11:00 - 12:00

Place:

Student life offers a lot more besides lecture halls, examinations and exams. Moving out for the first time, a new city, new people and getting to know yourself better are also part of it. In the workshop "student bucket list - before I graduate" we want to find more great activities together that every student should have done before graduation. The focus is on creating a personal bucket list for your studies in Stuttgart with other first-year students and lots of tips from students who have been studying here for a while.

Note: Event will be held in German, but you can ask questions in English

You can find the slides from last year's presentation here: student bucket list - before i graduate

Inspiration for your bucket list can be found here: Inspirationen für eure bucketlist aus dem Workshop

Cityrallye

Time: Wednesday, 13th Oct. 2021  |  12:00 - 18:00

Place: University Library Campus Stadtmitte

The city rally is one of the highlights of this year's freshers' orientation. Different subject groups will welcome you at different stands on your two to three hour tour through the entire city centre, where you will compete with other first-year students to solve tricky puzzles or play fun games.

We will divide you into groups of about 5 people, preferring students from the same degree programmes. In order for us to be able to put the groups together, you must register in advance to take part in the campus rally. This is done via the central registration tool of the stuvus freshers' orientation. Please answer all questions so that we can divide you into groups and reach you. The registration runs until Monday, 11.10.2021 at 18.00.

You will receive more detailed information about when you will start and what the hygiene regulations are by email a few days before the city rally.

If you have any questions or if you want to or have to cancel your registration, please feel free to contact us by e-mail: stadtrallye@stuvus.uni-stuttgart.de

We are looking forward to seeing you soon at the city rally!

Your Orga-Team
Anna, Jolanda & Tobias

Important: This city rally is meant to be a supplement to the events of the subject groups. So if there are parallel events of your department, please take part in them.

Note: Event will be held in German, but you can ask questions in English

Calisthenics and further sportive activites

Time: Wednesday, 13th Oct. 2021  |  14:00 - 15:00

Place: Outdoorfitnessplatz Campus Vaihingen, behind the sports hall Keltenschanze

Campus-tour

Time: Thursday, 14th Oct. 2021  |  10:00 - 13:00

Place:

Tour Vaihingen: Green area next to the S-Bahn station on the Vaihingen campus

Tour Stadtmitte: University Library Stadtmitte

The aim of the campus rally is to give you a first overview of the Stadtmitte and Vaihingen campuses. During the two-hour tour of both campuses, you will travel in small groups and pass numerous stations with entertaining games. The aim is to be better as a team than the other first-semester teams and thus collect the most points overall.

The tours in the city centre and on the Vaihingen campus are independent of each other, so you are free to decide whether you want to get to know both campuses or whether only one tour is interesting for you. You are also welcome to take this campus rally as a supplement to your department's campus tour/rally, which usually only covers one campus. We recommend that you get to know both campuses as a whole, because it may well be that an exam or an event takes place at the other location.

The small groups will preferably be made up of students from the same degree programme.

In order for us to be able to allocate the groups, you must register in advance to take part in the campus rally. This is done via the central registration tool of the stuvus freshers' orientation. Please answer all questions so that we can divide you into groups and reach you. The registration runs until Sunday, 10.10.2021.

Are there still events taking place in your subject groups on this day? Maybe you can still participate! The groups will start at different times in order to regulate the crowds at the stations. However, we will try to make sure that there are no overlaps for you. That's why we will ask you when you register if you have any events for your specialist group on that day. Of course, we can't promise that it will always work out. However, it is already clear that you can only take part in one tour if the next event does not start before 1 p.m. and in both tours if the next event does not start before 3 p.m. You have decided to take part in both tours.

You have decided to take part in both tours of the Campus Rally and don't have a Studi Ticket yet? No problem! When you register, you will also be asked whether you have a Studi Ticket. If you don't, we will divide the groups so that you can buy a group ticket together.

You will receive more detailed information about which tour you will start with at which time and what the hygiene regulations are by email a few days before the campus rally.

If you have any questions or need to cancel your registration, please feel free to contact us by email: campusrallye@stuvus.uni-stuttgart.de

We look forward to seeing you soon at the Campus Rally!

Your Orga-Team

Anna, Laura and Svenja

Workshop: Successful Presentations in Studies - Structured Storytelling

Time: Friday, 15th Oct. 2021 |  15:00 - 17:00

Place:

In your everyday life as a student, you are often in situations where you need to communicate information in a targeted and efficient way. Whether it is an email to fellow students or professors, creating a PowerPoint presentation for a seminar, answering a question in a seminar or in simple communication with friends or family. In all cases, you try to win your counterpart over to your idea and convince them of your point of view. However, if the delivery does not follow a clear structure, you will lose your counterpart because either there is too much room for interpretation in what you are saying or the attention is not on the most important aspect(s). In order to achieve this, you need to structure what you want to convey properly.

The training course "Successful Presentations in Studies - Structured Storytelling" provides you with a framework with which you can structure all communication in such a targeted way that you say the most important things in a nutshell and your counterpart can understand what you want to convey.

Note: Event will be held in German.

Radtour with Picknick

Time: Saturday, 16th Oct. 2021  |  11:00 - 15:00

Place: S-Bahn stop Universität, exit Universität (Uni-Campus Vaihingen)

For many, Stuttgart does not have much to offer in terms of beauty at first glance, nor does it have a good reputation in terms of sustainability. However, this does not necessarily correspond to reality. Stuttgart has a lot to offer, especially because of the beautiful surrounding area and some small, beautiful places! We from the sustainability department of the student council would like to take you on a bike tour of the Pfaffenwald forest and the Rotwildpark (red deer park) right next to the Vaihingen university campus and visit a few places worth seeing. Afterwards, we can have a picnic and talk about your start at university, answer your questions and discuss various sustainability issues.

What do you need to bring?

  • A bicycle that is suitable for off-road use (normal forest paths)
  • Enough to drink
  • Some small items for a picnic (we will also provide some food, including baked goods, but it would be great if you could bring some of your own)
  • Cutlery + plates + optional cups

Please note: The number of participants is limited. So register early via the central registration tool of the stuvus first semester introduction.

If you do not have your own bike, a rental bike might be an option for you. There are several stations on the Vaihingen campus where you can rent RegioRadStuttgart bikes.

If you have any questions, please contact us via our e-mail address: referent-nachhaltigkeit@stuvus.uni-stuttgart.de.

We want to show you the most beautiful places in Stuttgart and therefore invite you to a TREASURE HUNT. Your task is to reach as many destination goals as possible in the given time of 3 hours and in groups of 4 people. Thereby, you collect points, which you can redeem at a common barbecue for food and drink afterwards. Everyone is catered for here: we offer vegetarian, vegan and pork-free options. We are especially happy if international students participate, therefore the event is in English. You are also welcome to register as a local, who is interested in networking with internationals.
Please wear sporty shoes, as Stuttgart can get a bit hilly. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Young - broke - student: Ways of financing your studies

Rent, student ticket, food and a beer with friends - if you want to study, you have to see how you can make ends meet - especially in Stuttgart. We think you should be able to study without financial worries, regardless of your parents' income and no matter where you are in life. But how? Are you wondering what options there are for financing your studies and which ones are right for you? In this workshop we will give you an overview and show you concrete next steps how you can get the necessary Euros (even in Corona times and throughout your studies). Students of higher semesters will share their personal experiences and explain how they have financed their studies so far. And of course there will be enough room for your questions about financing your studies. The workshop is ideal for first-year students who have not thought much about the topic or who want to learn more about options they may not have considered before. Please understand that due to the large number of participants, we will not be able to answer any case-specific questions during this workshop. However, we know who your contact person is.
