How to stuvus

In the workshop “How-to stuvus” we will introduce the different parts of the student representation and their tasks. Since the workshop gives a good orientation about all our areas, it is interesting for all those who don’t know much about stuvus yet or who could imagine joining us in the future.

How to study commission resources & exchange

This workshop is primarily aimed at all current or future stuko or SKM members.

Every year, the Study Commission funds are allocated in these committees. Did you know that these funds can only be allocated with the consent of the students? So we have a direct influence on teaching here. That’s why we would like to use this workshop to inform all interested parties about the possibilities, rights and obligations surrounding SCM.

Personal password management

You use the same passwords for all your online accounts? You know that this is not secure, but you haven’t found an easy solution yet? In this workshop we will look at what a password safe (also: password manager) is and why it makes your online life more secure, sustainable and convenient. In this workshop you will be able to set up your own password safe and use it directly. The workshop is aimed at all students. No previous IT knowledge is required. Registration is required. Important for participation in presence: Bring your devices on which you want to have a password safe (laptop, smartphone, etc.).

How to lead a Fachgruppe & Fachgruppe leadership

In the workshop we would like to introduce the structure of the university and stuvus, explain what rights and duties subject groups have and show services for subject groups. The workshop will be led by the Department for Networking of the Student Council. The workshop is aimed at all those who are newly active in a subject group and all students at the University of Stuttgart who are interested in subject groups and perhaps want to work in one in the future. The workshop is aimed at all department heads and interested parties. We look forward to exchanging ideas with you!

Introduction to sustainable nutrition

In the workshop, we would like to deal with the questions of why it makes sense to deal with one’s own diet, what a sustainable diet can look like and how this can be implemented as simply as possible in everyday student life. The workshop will be run by the Green Canteen working group. The workshop is aimed at all students. The current diet does not play a role for participation in the workshop. Registration is required. Participation is only possible with 2G.

Sustainability in Stuttgart

The presentation from the Department of Sustainability is aimed at students who are interested in sustainable consumption, living or commitment. Especially students who are new to Stuttgart will find a lot of new information about sustainability in Stuttgart and at the university. We start with a look at the global level and zoom in on the efforts of the EU and the Federal Republic of Germany to sustainable living in Stuttgart and at the university. Finally, we will change the perspective and show examples of how we can make our lives more sustainable. After the input, there will be space for sharing personal experiences so that participants can pass on tips to each other.

Check Your Privilige – Thinking and Acting Critically of Racism

The workshop will be introduced with a small “privilege check game”, which will be discussed again at the beginning and end of the workshop. At the beginning, the focus is on historical facts: Colonialism, fascism, capitalism and patriarchal structures – the origins of racism in our society today and how racism and the climate crisis are connected. Afterwards, we will work together on ways of thinking and acting that are critical of racism. What is particularly important here is cooperation and a relationship of trust between those affected and non-affected helpers (so-called “allies”). The importance of safe spaces and the perspective of those affected will also be discussed. Finally, we will discuss right-wing extremism, racial profiling and racism in Germany, based on events in recent years.

The workshop is a safe space for BIPoC, here it is particularly important to let those affected by racism have their say and not to deny them their experiences (so-called gaslighting). Trigger warning for the whole workshop: racism, violence, death / murder. If needed, the workshop can be run again in English at some point. Registration is required.

How to Appeal Commission & Exchange

Have you ever been interested in how students are involved in the appointment of new professors? Would you like to be involved as a student representative in such an appointment? Or have you already participated in such appointment committees, but would like to know how it is done in other faculties? All this will be the topic of the workshop “How to Appointment Committee”.

Sexual discrimination and violence

Sexual discrimination and violence unfortunately also exist at the university. Where does sexual harassment start? What can you do as a person affected or an outsider? The workshop aims to inform and sensitise about the problem and to encourage an open exchange. Afterwards we are looking forward to your support and ideas to create more awareness about this topic.

The workshop will be conducted by Theresa, Julia and Noelia from the Department for Equality, Diversity and Social Affairs and we are looking forward to all interested students of the University of Stuttgart who would like to participate. The workshop is free and in attendance, so you have to register. With your registration you will be informed about the room. We are looking forward to hearing your experiences and ideas.

Sustainability in the section

How can sustainability work in the section? Is it even possible? What possibilities and ideas are there? These and many other questions will be discussed in the workshop. Special attention will be paid to the amended guidelines. Registration is required.

Digital and hybrid teaching

You don’t know what to expect from the hybrid semester and how it works? Wondering how to stay in touch with your fellow students? You wonder what you can do if you have problems with digital or hybrid teaching and who you can turn to? You have already had problems with digital or hybrid teaching and did not know what you are entitled to as a student as “good digital teaching”. You don’t know what sensible steps to take to solve a problem? Then this lecture and the subsequent Q&A session is just right for you!

IT basics

The stuvus-IT provides many useful IT services, but most of them are not very well known or so extensive that you don’t even know what they are :). The aim of this workshop is to give all (subject group) members an overview of the services and possibilities. In particular, the wiki will be introduced. You don’t need any previous knowledge.

How to Faculty Council & Exchange

What does the Faculty Council do? What does it decide? What role do the student representatives play? Building on these basics, the following questions should also be discussed: What issues are currently playing a role in the different faculties? What do other faculties do differently, and why? Suggestions for current topics from your faculty council are very welcome!

How to FachgruppenAdmin

As the name suggests, this workshop will dive a little deeper into stuvus-IT. Topics are e.g. account allocation or the allocation of permissions in the wiki. It is therefore primarily aimed at all department and university group admins.

Statutes, StuPa motions and Co. for beginners

This workshop is about explaining the workflows around formal things like statutes, StuPa motions etc. We will go through how the different processes work. We will go through how the different processes work and when you have to contact whom for a change of statutes, a big issue or other topics concerning the StuPa.

You have an idea for a workshop or even want to hold one yourself? Get in touch with us! Just write to us on Instagram (@stuvus.unistuttgart) or by email (kontakt@stuvus.uni-stuttgart.de). We look forward to your input!
